Welcome to Hand and Hand West Harbour & Hobsonville

Serving the community for more than 5 years, we take great pride and excitement in providing programmes that enable our children to express their creativity and imagination by offering age appropriate experiences and planning programmes based on their interests. We are a small, boutique centre licensed for 54 children. Our teachers always focus on building a healthy and rich relationship with individual children so that children feel secure and safe during the day.

Our Clark room is for young babies aged 3months to 2 years old. Our Clark room is cozy, warm, calm and welcoming learning environment with only 10 young children. In this room, teachers will look after the individual child’s routines, needs and they will be just like the child’s ‘second mother’. Our babies will gain understanding about their world through sensory exploration and interaction with each other. They will be nurtured and supported to gain a sense of belonging to enable them to explore with confidence, grow, learn and flourish.

Our Sunderlands room is divided between the toddlers and the preschoolers. It is here that tuakana-teina relationships are formed with the older children. This is where we see reciprocal relationships develop and learning happen in tandem. It is a vibrant and energetic space where children are encouraged to explore and learn in their own way. In Sunderlands room, we aim to foster their social and emotional competence y giving them the tools to navigate through challenges, establish and maintain relationships with others.

Our key value is 'Respect'. We show respect to each other. Role model what respect is to our tamariki. Our teachers have very close relationships with our whanau and all of us will work with you to support your child’s growth and development.

Nutrition is important to us

We believe that children need to have a good and healthy balanced diet for their growth and development. We serve nutritious meals throughout the day. We have a three week cycle menu serving beef and chicken with options for vegetarian, gluten and dairy free children. Our chef will always make sure that our children's dietary requirements are met. We make sure that we use a wide range of multicultural, balanced food groups to encourage children to try new food and taste. Our food is made from scratch with no added refined sugar, salt or preservatives. We provide seasonal fruits and vegetables for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.
